Hard Surfaces Inspectors Course:
A 5 day course covering Substrates, Resilient, Laminate and Hardwood flooring. Daily quizzes along with a final exam will challenge all inspectors. A lot of Night time work will be required to be prepared for the next day's class.
>Substrates: Where most hard surface flooring problems begin. We will cover on and below grade concrete slabs, as well as wood subfloors. Underlayments, patching compounds and their proper uses. Trouble shooting concrete and subflooring related failures/problems. Flatness/Smoothness problems and how to measure. Moisture Testing. Dew Point. > Resilient Flooring: Rotogravure, Inlaid, Linoleum. What they are, how they are made and installation procedures. The manufacturing process and inherent characteristics. Manufacturing, Installation, and End User related concerns. Reviewing samples of manufacturing related concerns as we go through the manufacturing processes. Inspection techniques. > Adhesives: Manufacturing requirements, there uses and adhesive related failures. Inspection techniques and sample collecting. > Installation Procedures: Following and understanding manufacturing installation instructions. Installation related concerns and inspection techniques. Review of installation related failures and samples. > Laminate Flooring: We will cover all laminate flooring installation and manufacturing techniques. Underlayments, Moisture Retarders, Maintenance procedures and concerns. The importance of flatness/smoothness of the subflooring. Installation procedures of each type system. Inspection techniques. Review of samples >Hardwood Flooring: Solid and Engineered products. Installation procedures will be covered for nail/staple down, glue down, and floating installation procedures. Advanced Hardwood Inspectors Course:
Just that 5 days of wood flooring education. Develop an understanding of "Moisture and Wood", the"true relationship". Defects of wood flooring, critical inspection techniques, and problem solving. Wet heat vs dry heat. Basic building construction technology. Installation, sand/finish, and inspection techniques. Proper use of moisture meters and what they really mean...plus much more. Review of samples.
***Attendee's must have wood flooring experience to test as an Inspector***
Carpet Inspectors Course: A rigorous 5 day course utilizing daily quizzes and an in-depth final exam. This will allow you to use your newly honed inspection skills on the practical portion of the exam as well as an essay / fill in the blank written exam. > Manufacturing: The manufacturing process will be covered completely. Reviewing samples of manufacturing related concerns as we go through each step, explaining the problems and how to determine the source/cause. > Installation: Proper techniques, specifications and requirements will be covered.
